Favorite Typeface

In January 2002 the Amalgamated Printers' Association's "bundle" contained entries from its "Favorite Typeface" project. On a voluntary basis, members could submit their favorite typeface. Entries were to be simple, listing their favorite face and its alphabet, if they wished. There were nearly 30 entries for their fvorites in the following categories: Best Typography, Favorite Typeface and Most Original Presentation. Members voted for the best in each category. Below are the first and second place winners plus a few other entries.

Dwight Agner's entry was the most popular. Dwight took first place in the "Best Typography" area. Agner along with another, took second place in the "Favorite Typeface" (Post Roman). And in the "Most Original Presentation" he tied with another for first. Truly a winning submission.
Placing second in "Best Typography" was the Arlene Popkin-Stephen Hirchberg entry. This piece also placed first in the "Favorite Typeface" (Centaur) area. Another popular piece with voting APA members.

No, this is not a computer entry. Rich von Holdt handset this from his vast collection of type. He said he couldn't pick a favorite "among his many children."
